Jake Storey – Director BRTP (Hons) MPIA
Jake Storey is a qualified and experienced town planner, drawing on over 20 years planning practice within the development industry.
After graduating from the University of Queensland, Jake commenced employment with Gold Coast City Council as a Town Planner and Coordinator, Implementation & Assessment, until leaving in 2004 to establish Storey & Castle Planning.
Whilst with Council, Jake worked on a diverse range of development proposals including mixed use commercial and residential developments; medium and large scale residential subdivisions; high rise apartment buildings; commercial and industrial centres; education, community and medical facilities; and telecommunication facilities.
In key development assessment roles, Jake has coordinated the review and implementation of planning scheme provisions, policies and criteria and continues to consult Council in specialist Planning Scheme review roles. Most recently, Jake was appointed in the honorary capacity as a member of the Mayors Technical Advisory Group, assisting in the drafting and implementation of the City Plan 2016.
Since commencing Storey & Castle Planning, Jake has worked on an extensive and diverse range of development projects across the Gold Coast, broader South East Qld, NSW and Darwin, NT.
Jake has demonstrated experience and success in the role of planning expert in the Planning & Environment Court of QLD, having provided mediation and expert witness testimony for Council, and private developers as part of his consultancy practice.
Jake is a member of the Planning Institute of Australia and actively contributes to professional affiliations affecting development across the Gold Coast.
